Such a fabulous piece! 18" Hand carved wooden elder woman with wood torso and carved hands. The body is cage-like made with wire covered with rope. Clothes are made of antique fabrics and are hand-stitched. Sophie Gasser was born in 1892 and died in Innsbruck, Austria in 1977. She holds a bible and rosary beads with a cross. There is a wrist tag attached that reads "Kunstgewerbe Originals (English translation...Original Arts & Crafts) Sophie Gasser Innsbruck". The wire body that skirts her dress is 34" circumference. Hard to find anything that compares with this piece. Item # 7B-33 LCFT
