I'm pleased to offer these "Awesome"
VINTAGE 1960's
American Optical
PRESCRIPTION EYEGLASSES.
This "classic" style of AO Sirmont Clubmaster Men's Eye Wear was unknowingly
popularized
by the American Muslim Minister "El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz".
From the desk drawer of a recent estate; this set of 1960's era eyeglasses is
ALL ORIGINAL
! It has clear glass bi-focal lens with a reddish brown plastic frame that is accented with
12kt gold filled
metal trim.
Various measurements are as follows: Overall frame width is 5-5/16"/ Bridge is 5/8" / Temple length is 5-1/8" / Temple length to drop is 4" / Temple drop is 1-1/2" / Lens height is 1-1/2" and Lens width is 1-3/4".
Incised lettering in the right temple reads: 5 3/4 -American (tm) Optical. Incised lettering at the right hinge reads: F 16. Incised lettering at the left hinge reads: 4G / Incised lettering in the left temple reads: 5 3/4. Incised lettering on the back of the bridge reads: 22AO - 1/10 - 12K G.F. (see images).
Remarkably, there are NO chips or cracks!
The lens have only the very faintest scratches and the finish of the plastic has that mild "patina" commensurate with age. Although hinges, screws and nose pads all remain tight; a thorough cleaning would be in order (see images).
